Bio

“Singer-songwriter Kyara Kalb gently beckons listeners into her musical world as Kleinahexa. Drawing inspiration from beloved artists like Joni Mitchell and creative pioneers like The Velvet Underground, she cultivates a warm, intimate sound that any fans of melancholy songcraft can’t help but enjoy.

With traces of musical theatre shaping her melodies, Kalb’s voice rings out in nostalgic yet forward-facing songs. It’s a nod to her background as a music teacher, one evident in Kleinahexa’s emotional subjects and hope-tinged sonic palette. Though more Carol King than Kathleen Hanna in sound, the heart of Kleinahexa beats with a spirit of empowerment for women and feminine voices.

With her new EP Growing Pains, Kalb reflects on coming-of-age as a young musician in a complicated world.

A teacher for almost a decade, she now nurtures the next generation of talented voices through her fledgling production project Little Witch Presents. From local open mics to songwriter sessions, it provides community spaces for all artists to hone their gifts.

Like the famed singer-songwriters nestled in Laurel Canyon’s hills, Kalb flowers best in a communal soil, planted firm in her SoCal roots.

If you’ve ever longed for an artist crossing the spirit of riot grrl with the downbeat sound of the canyon, lend an ear to Kleinahexa’s siren song.”
